-Originally called Armistice Day, commemorating the end of WWI in 1918.
-The armistice was signed on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month.
-In 1954, President Dwight D. Eisenhower officially changed the name to Veterans Day.
-Today, Veterans Day commemorates veterans of all wars.
-Today there are roughly 18 million veterans in America. Around 2 million are female.
-Famous World War II general, General George Patton was born on November 11th.
-At 11:00am a moment of silence is observed to remember those who served.
