Learn to ride a motorcycle at Classic Harley-Davidson

The Pennsylvania Motorcycle Safety Program offers FREE training to all Pennsylvania residents and active duty military with a class Motorcycle Learner’s permit or motorcycle license.

At Classic Harley-Davidson we offer the Total Control Beginner Riding Clinic (Total Control BRC®) which is designed for the novice rider with no (or limited) street-riding experience. This course includes both classroom and on-cycle instruction at Classic Harley-Davidson. You will learn fundamental skills required to operate the motorcycle and progress to street riding skills and strategies.

Topics covered include fear, understanding how motorcycles turn, proper cornering strategies, and emergency crash avoidance skills. The course is based on the most current research in rider safety and utilizes modern training methods and uses criteria set forth in the Model National Standards for Entry-Level Motorcycle Rider Training by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHSTA).

Though designed for new riders, any rider that has not taken a motorcycle course will benefit from this clinic. Motorcycles and helmets are provided in this course. Prerequisites include the ability to ride and balance a bicycle.

YOU MUST BRING:

-Valid motorcycle permit

-Protective riding gear including:

-EYE PROTECTION including shields, sunglasses, goggles, or glasses

-STURDY LONG-SLEEVED JACKET or shirt

-WATER or other non-alcoholic beverage, quick to eat foods and lunch that does not require refrigeration. There are very few locations and opportunities to purchase food or beverages.

-FULL-FINGERED GLOVES: closed back, with no holes in them. They must be street-motorcycle specific and/or durable leather. Mechanics gloves, batting gloves, etc. are NOT acceptable.

-STURDY HIGH TOP SHOES OR BOOTS: footwear MUST COVER the anklebone; fabric footwear is not permitted.

-LONG STURDY PANTS: leather, “blue-jeans,” or denim only with no tears or holes

You may bring your own DOT-compliant ¾ or full-face helmet or one will be provide for you.
